About the Book

Description

Molly, a scientist, and Hank, a writer, are offered the opportunity to invest in an experimental cellular rejuvenation process that not only promises to restore their youthful vitality but also to enhance their strength and intellect to a nearly superhuman degree. They agree to fund the groundbreaking “Upgrade Cell” project, but only if they can be the first to undergo the procedure. When the unexpected occurs, Hank and Molly come face to face with clones of themselves who have achieved the promised results of superiority in all areas except for their severely distorted bodies. The book’s characters must then struggle with the nature of identity. What shapes it? Where does it reside? Is true identity encompassed by our bodies, memories, and self-image, or by a version of ourselves that achieves full potential in every way except aesthetically? Upgrade Soul was the recipient of the 2017 Dwane McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics and was considered one of the Best Books of 2018 by Publishers Weekly, Amazon, Vulture, Paste Magazine among others.
